Virtual Fixtures for Robot Assisted Micromanipulation

This paper describes a telemicromanipulation system to assist persons with different skills to perform dexterous micromanipulation tasks. This research is expected to enhance the teleoperation performance through the use of haptic and pseudo-haptic guidance. For this purpose, we proposed a humanmachine interface developed on virtualized reality representation of the micro-environment. Afterwards, several virtual fixtures are defined and characterized in order to find an optimal virtual guide to carry out the different micromanipulation tasks.
